Why does an Individual have to pay income taxes and GST on every single purchase?

There are two type of taxes - Direct Tax and Indirect Tax. Income tax is a direct tax, which is required to be paid by such person whose annual Income is more than threshold limit. However, GST is indirect tax which is required to be paid by consumer through its supplier.

So, every person is paying GST indirectly, but Income tax is charged to few persons.
