Vidya Balan is an Indian actress. She has established a career in Bollywood and is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards, and five Screen Awards, and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014.
Vidya Balan started her acting career at the age of 16 years with the famous show called Hum Paanch which was aired on Zee TV in the mid 90s.
She had to cross around 40 screen tests and did 17 make up shoots before bagging her debut role for Parineeta.
Vidya Balan revealed about how she was labelled jinxed by the bollywood industry. “When people in the industry got to know that I have been signed on a Mohanlal’s film that time I verbally confirmed around 12 movies. But as soon as that film got shut, I was thrown out from all 12 movies! Everyone started to call me jinx and that began to break me down.”
Vidya struggled for 3 years in her career before signing on music video for Euphoria and during these hard times it was her family and her faith that something good will happen that helped her survive.
Vidya was highly praised for her two movies ‘The Dirty Pictures’ and ‘Kahaani’. The two such movies brought out the real actor in Vidya.
Vidya Balan was booked for controversy after the release of her movie Dirty Picture. The city court of Mumbai has directed the police to arrest her as she posed indecently in the posters and public material of this movie.
In the month of December 2012, she got married to Siddhart Roy Kapur after being in relationship for quite some time. The marriage was a private ceremony and only family members and close friends of bride and groom were invited.
Vidya Balan had played the role of mother of Amitabh Bachchan in the movie Paa and for which she bagged the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress.
