Genelia D'Souza is an Indian film actress and model. She has appeared in South Indian cinema and Bollywood films. Genelia was named after her mother Jeanette and her father Neil. Also, she is fonly known as Geenu at home.
She used to be a very active sports person when she was in school. It is interesting to note that she is a state level athlete, sprinter and a national level player in football.
Genelia was once spotted as a bridesmaid at a wedding when she was 15 years old. Someone was so impressed by her looks and appearance that she was signed for her first modelling assignment.
After gaining wide attention in a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan, Genelia began her acting career with the box-office hit Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003.
Her first ever Filmfare trophy was for the Telugu film Bommarillu, back in the year 2006. Her performance in the film was lauded by one and all and it helped her get a firm footing in the Telugu film industry.
Genelia was subject to a controversy in the year 2010 where she attended the IIFA Awards ceremony in Colombo. Many of the important actors in Bollywood boycotted the event except her because of the alleged killing of some Tamilian civilians.
Riteish and Genelia tied the knot on February 3, 2012 and it’s been 4 years of beautiful matrimony for the couple. Today, they are parents to 2 year old Riaan and their newborn baby Rahy - who was born in June.
She is a very private person. It is quite evident since she had kept her personal life under wraps at all times. In fact, even her alleged affair with Riteish Deshmukh was never out in the open.
