Marguérite, Queen of Navarre
"The Heptameron" was published in 1558, nine years after the Queen's death. The first publication was substantially abbreviated, though it was quickly re-published in a more complete version. The genuine Heptameron, after remaining in manuscript for more than three hundred years after the Queen of Navarre's death, was eventually published in 1853.
