Director Aditya Chopra wanted to cast Tom Cruise in Shah Rukh Khan’s role, as he wanted it to be an Indo-American project. Yash Chopra dissuaded him, as he did not want a foreign star in the film.
The next option was Saif Ali Khan but he declined. Aditya Chopra then approached Shah Rukh Khan.
