Director Yash Chopra conceived Lamhe with Vinod Khanna but unfortunately, he was dropped as he did not look 'young' enough. Jackie Shroff was the next choice; he had just shaved off his mustache for Diljale and sent his pictures to Yash Chopra. But he did not look young enough either.
