It is because the old name of Korea - Chosun "朝鮮" - loosely translates to the land of morning calm (literal translation is morning brightness). As for how the name Chosun "朝鮮" came about, no one knows. Someone suggests in other answer that it was created by Ming emperor, but this is incorrect.
