The first orbital-class rocket to be launched from a private site
This was the first of three test launches before the launch of a commercial payload, by the company Rocket Lab founded in 2006 by New Zealander Peter Beck. The eventual launch is designed to put satellites weighing about 330 pounds (150 kg) into orbits a few hundreds miles above Earth.
