Second largest in the world and first in Asia this artificial lake is situated in south-east of Udaipur about 51 km. away. This was built by Maharana Jaisingh in 1628 by constructing a dam over Gomati River. This is also called Dhebar Lake. After 1950 two canals namely shyampura and bhat were constructed for the purpose of irrigation. The lake consists of seven big and small islands which are inhabited by meenas and bheels. The largest island is called baba ka bhagda and the smaller one is called pyari. Oudian and palaces are built over this lake. On one island, a hotel Iceland resort has been built.
