Jhumpa Lahiri, is the author of the novel "The Lowland", published by Alfred A. Knopf and Random House in 2013. Lahiri has been selected as the winner of the 29th PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the short story. Lahiri was a member of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities, appointed by U.S. President Barack Obama.
