Anglo-Indians refers to two groups of people: those with mixed Indian and British ancestry, and people of British descent born or living in the Indian subcontinent.
There are an estimated 500,000 Anglo-Indians throughout the world – including in Britain, Canada, Australia and Pakistan – but in India itself their population is about 150,000. Anglo-Indians are the only community that has its own representatives nominated to the Lok Sabha (Lower House) in India's Parliament.
