South America and Cuba
The book, written by Ernesto "Che" Guevara, records his travels with a friend round South America when he was a young medical student, when he witnessed poverty, injustice, exploitation, and degradation which shaped the revolutionary dedication he brought to the revolution in Cuba which established Fidel Castro and to its subsequent government. The diaries end with a declaration of his willingness to fight and die for the cause of the poor, and his dream of seeing a united Latin America.
