Marsili is the biggest underwater volcano in Europe, located about 175 km (109 mi) south of Naples, about 3,000 m (9,800 ft) tall with its peak and crater reaching within 450 m (1,400 ft) of the water surface. It has not erupted in recorded history but is considered by scientists to be active.
