Dugong, or sea cow
The state bird is the Andaman Wood Pigeon and the state tree the Andaman Padauk, both endemic to the islands. The dugong, the world's only strictly herbivorous marine mammal, is found in warm coastal waters from the western Pacific Ocean to the eastern coast of Africa but the population is estimated to be shrinking.
