Religious sect
Their beliefs were not unlike those of the Quakers. Today an estimated 20,000-40,000 people of Doukhobor heritage live in Canada, nearly 5,000 of them claiming "Doukhobor" as their religious affiliation and around 5,000 live in the U.S. along the Canadian border. Probably 30,000 live in Russia and neighbouring countries.
