Greater Khingan, or Da Hinggan, Range
The Da Hinggan Range has an average elevation from 3,950 to 4,250 feet (1,200 to 1,300 metres), the highest peak reaching 6,673 feet (2,035 metres). The northern section is rich in forests and wildlife, including deer, elk, marten and hare, which in the south gradually give way to broad-leaved forests and then to patches of tall grassland. It is a major source of timber for China.
