Mary Queen of Scots (Mary I )
Mary was the only surviving legitimate child of King James V. She was 6 days old when he died. Her mother, Mary of Guise, assumed regency. Mary was crowned Queen of Scots 9 months later. In 1558, she married Francis, Dauphin of France, who became Francis II in 1559 and died in December 1560. Mary returned to Scotland, arriving in August 1561.
