Katanga
Copper has been mined and exported by the Katanga people for over a millennium, and the eastern part of the province is rich in other valued minerals, i.e. much of the world's cobalt as well as extensive quantities of tin, radium, uranium, and diamonds. The region has been fought over many times since the late 19th century colonial times.
