Austrian (Felix Salten)
The books were published in, respectively, 1923 and 1939. "Bambi" was banned in Germany in 1936 as "political allegory on the treatment of Jews in Europe.". Salten was Austrian and was of Jewish heritage. He fled Nazi-occupied Austria, and wrote "Bambi's Children" while living in Switzerland in exile.
