Its brass band
The Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band, formed in 1917, recorded a version of "Jerusalem" which was played when the English team won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Grimethorpe was the location for the film "Brassed Off" (1996) about the troubles of the village and its band following the closure of the Grimethorpe coal mine and mines in the area.
