Paul Hindemith
Hindemith wrote music based in tonality (as well as atonality), with frequent references to folk music; he fell in and out of favour with Nazis over the next years. Hindemith emigrated to Switzerland in 1938 (in part because his wife was of partially Jewish ancestry), before moving to the United States in 1940.
