Here is the complete story -
US presidents can only serve two for four year terms, for a total of eight years. (As per 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution) Section 1 of the amendment reads "No person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.
This effectively limits a person to 10 years (2 year completing someone else's term + 2 4 year terms).
