Chinese Checkers, or Chinese Chequers
The "Chinese" does not refer to the game's origin but to a marketing technique when it was promoted in the USA. It is known in Chinese as jump chess. The game was developed in Germany and the "stern" refers to the game's star shape. "Halma" is Greek for "leap".
