The Treaty of Vereeniging
The Treaty of Vereeniging provided for the end of hostilities between Britain and the two southern African states, the South African Republic and the Orange Free State, and for their eventual self-government as British colonies. Other provisions of the treaty included postponing discussion of the native (Black) enfranchisement issue until self-government had been given.
