The Binnenhof, originally a mansion built by Count Floris IV, stands in The Hague next to a lake called Hofvijver or 'Court Pond' since the 13th century. The States-General, the Netherlands parliament, has met there since 1464. The queen gives her annual speech on Prinsjesdag in one of the towers, known as the Ridderzaal; het Torentje in the mansion complex, directly next to the Mauritshuis museum, has been the office of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands since 1982.
