Côte d'Ivoire
On 2 December 2010, the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) announced that Alassane Ouattara had won with 54.1% of the vote, against 45.9% for Laurent Gbagbo. The Constitutional Council said that the CEI had no authority to announce results, because it had missed its deadline to do so. On 3 December, the Constitutional Council declared Gbagbo winner (on the basis that the results in 7 regions were cancelled) with 51.45% of the vote while Ouattara had 48.55% Gbagbo was sworn in for another five-year term on 4 December, and Ouattara was sworn in separately shortly after.
