Mended ceramic with gold, or similar, applied to the mends
In kintsugi, broken pottery is mended with lacquer which is then sprinkled with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, embracing the flawed or imperfect and preserving the history of the piece in a beautiful form. Maki-e art also uses lacquer drawn on or sprinkled with powdered gold, silver, copper, brass, lead, aluminium, platinum, and pewter.
