McDonald
The Earl of Argyll's Regiment of Foot, around 120 men, began the massacre simultaneously in Invercoe, Inverrigan, and Achnacon, as the MacDonalds had not been prompt in pledging allegiance to new monarchs William and Mary. 38 MacDonalds from the Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed and 40 women and children died of exposure after their homes were burned.
