Piccadilly, London, England
The statue in Piccadilly Square (1892-3) is popularly known as Eros but was designed as his opposite, Anteros, the god of requited and selfless love, to commemorate the 7th Earl of Shaftesbury who worked on behalf of the poor, children forced to work, people deemed insane, and to promote education for poor children. The Angel of the North is at Gateshead; the equestrian Duke of Wellington is in the Royal Exchange Square; Boudica is in the Cardiff City Hall.
