12 year 7 months
In 2021 he still holds that distinction. Karjakin won the European U10 Chess Championship in 1999, and was World U12 Chess Champion in 2001. (Magnus Carlsen, the World Champion in 2021 was named Grandmaster at 13 years, 4 months, 27 days.)
