Etchplain
Etchplains are land areas whose subsurface has been substantially weathered, and etched. Weathering of the bedrock does not advance uniformly and the "plains" are not necessarily flat. The African Surface is estimated to have been formed in the period from the uppermost Cretaceous (70 Ma) to the Middle Eocene (45 Ma), and particularly characterises central Africa. Pediplain is extensive plain formed by the joining of very gently sloping, and typically concave, inclined bedrock surfaces.
