"Gavage" is introducing food or medicine into the stomach without consent. Leblouh (or gavage with consent) in Africa refers to the practice of grossly overfeeding young girls with fattening foods to induce them to become fat in a bid to increase their attractiveness to men and their chances of achieving a good marriage. It is a custom in parts of Mauritania, Niger, Uganda, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia (specifically Jewish people), Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
