Swarf
Swarf is the collective name for waste resulting from machining, or similar, of metal, wood, stone or plastic. Swarf can be small particles (such as from grinding metal or from sawing or sanding wood); long, stringy pieces (such as that from turning metal or from whittling wood); slag-like waste (such as is produced within a pipe during pipe-fitting work); or stone fragments and dust (as in masonry).
