It depends on the species and/or the temperature of the habitat
Some species are deciduous and others usually evergreen. However, evergreen magnolias can change. Most evergreen magnolias thrive where temperatures in winter are mild, or cool but not freezing, but if planted in colder climates can change to deciduous.
