Lord Nelson
There are varying accounts of Nelson's last words. Three surviving accounts of eyewitnesses, who attended Nelson for much of the three hours after he was shot although not all there throughout the last moments, depict Nelson as asking Hardy to ensure some personal belongings were given to his wife and daughter after which he said "Kiss me, Hardy", later "thank God I have done my duty", and "God bless you, Hardy", and much later "God and my country".
