Elinor Smith
She was 17 at the time, and had become the youngest U.S.-government-licensed pilot on record the previous year. She went on to set and break several records, and to be the first woman test pilot for both Fairchild and Bellanca (now AviaBellanca). In October 1930 a poll of licensed pilots selected her as the "Best Woman Pilot in America".
