King Louis XIV of France
Under Louis's patronage in the 17th and 18th century, court ballets flourished and developed together with ballet composers, choreographers and dancers. The king founded the Académie Royale de Danse, and in 1669, the Académie d'Opéra, important driving events in the evolution of ballet.
