Libya
Libya has few above-ground water resources, and the "river" is a network of pipes that draws fresh water from a fossil aquifer in Libya's south and pipes it for supply and irrigation to the north and north-west of the country. The network, with underground pipes extending 2,820 km (1,750 mi) and aqueducts was built between 1984 and 2007, and in 2008 was described in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest irrigation project.
