Quires
A ream is a number of sheets of paper, formerly 480 sheets ( short ream), now 500 sheets (long ream) or 516 sheets (printer's ream or perfect ream); one ream is equal to 20 quires. Quarto refers to the size of the paper and the book (about 12 inches (30 cm) tall); rinceaux are a patterning of fine foliate branches commonly used as an ornament in borders to book illustrations during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
