Spectacles
Pince-nez are supported on the bridge of the nose, without earpieces. Early forms pictured in the late 14th century consisted of two lenses enclosed in paddle-shaped frames hinged together above the bridge of the nose. Later forms used a rigid frame which held both lenses, with pincers which clasped the skin of the bridge of the nose.
