Care, as a pair, for the young from the egg until the larvae are mature
Once the eggs have been laid the Nicrophorinae beetle pairs stay with and protect their developing young. They will regurgitate food into the mouths of the young larvae. The eggs are laid in carrion and sometimes, where there is a larger than normal carcass, there is communal breeding and communal care for offspring.
