Singh, a Malaysian politician and lawyer, was particularly known internationally for defending drug traffickers including Lorraine and Aaron Cohen whose pardon he eventually obtained, and Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim against charges of sodomy following which defence he was detained under Malaysia's Sedition Act.
