Resolution of a border dispute between Argentina and Chile
The statue stands at the highest point of the road between Mendoza, Argentina, and Santiago, Chile, and was unveiled in 1904. It carries the inscription "Sooner shall these mountains crumble into dust than Chileans and Argentinians break the peace which at the feet of Christ, the Redeemer, they have sworn to maintain".
