Ringette is a team sport with four variations, one winter and three indoor and outdoor versions. The winter sport is played on an ice rink. In the indoor court version one is called by its initial name, Floor hockey while the more modernized version is called Gym Ringette.
The game of ringette was invented in 1963 by the Northern Ontario Recreation Directors Association (NORDA) and led by the two founders of Ringette, Sam Jacks, from West Ferris, Ontario, director of Parks and Recreation for the city of North Bay, Ontario
