Yes, the onset of cataract is high if you are Diabetic. Diabetes affects various organs like heart, kidney, liver, eyes, feet, etc. if sugar levels are not maintained optimally.

Cataract is defined as a condition which causes blurriness of the vision due to opacity caused by the cloudy formations in the lens.This is due to the increased levels of sugars that flow into the fluid filling the front portion of the eye.

Below are the symptoms:

  • Blurring of vision
  • Color changes - Colors might fade. Inability of the eye to differentiate between colors.
  • Increased sensitivity to light
  • Images appearing double
  • Frequent change in your spectacle or lens powers
