The first true video games were created in the early 1950s.

The first video and computer games were NIMROD (1951), OXO (1952), and Spacewar (1962)

In the late 1960s when Internet came into the picture the Video Games gets popular and accessible to the world.

In 1972, the PLATO IV which is created by the University of Illinois and Control Data Corporation allowed students at several locations to create multiplayer games.
