Covalent bonding (meaning the sharing of electronic orbitals between molecules) can be a simple sharing of electrons without electromagnetic interaction of the electrons, this is known as non-polar covalent bonding.

For polar covalent bonding, there is dipole/dipole interaction caused by the electromagnetic attraction/repulsion of the N and S poles of the spinning electrons that create the angular momentum necessary for the interaction at close distances. This is also known as Van der waals forces. For example, Geckos us this force to climb vertical objects.
