Lateral thinking Puzzle?

Question

Their is a girl in a village she didnt pay the rent. For a rent the house owner came to her and asked her lets play a game - he said to her that he is going to put a black and white marble in a basket and she has to pick up a marble...

He said if you pick up a black she has to marry him and no need to pay the rent and if she pick a white she has to pay the rent and no need to marry him. They performed this play in a marble garden in the presence of some viewer she has to pick up a marble.

The house owner has put two black marbles in the basket and asked her to pick up one the girl noticed that thing done by the house owner

Now how she overcome this program and how is she going to solve it?
She definitely going to pick up a marble, what she will do?

My Guess only

To win She has to pick the white or atleast prove that she has picked the white. So she picks a marble and instantly drops it into those on the ground (ground is a marble garden) and is lost. To know what color it was they must look at the marble remaining in the basket which is black and proves that the picked one was White.

Then calls him a scallywag and scoundrel, picks up her things, and moves out.
