He manages to cross the rope bridge without shredding any cloth off his body. How?

Indiana Jones has found two gold bars in a treasure he just excavated from the ground. But the jungle people won’t let him take away their treasure. He runs and come across the only rope bridge that connects the other side of the river to the jungle. He is aware of the fact that the rope can accommodate the weight of only 160 lbs. He weighs 140 lbs and the gold bars are each 12 lbs. Still he manages to cross the rope bridge without shredding any cloth off his body.

How?

He may cross the bridge by juggling the gold bars, this will ensure one gold bar in hand and one in air at a time

Creative solution. Unfortunately that won't work as the downwards force of the bars increase when you throw them.

1) He trows the bars to the other side
2) He ties the bars to his lasso and when he is on the other side reels in his lasso
3) He drops 1 bar (question does not say both bars made it across)
