Hari and Gaurav are going to play a game. Hari explains, "You and I will take turns saying numbers. The first person will say a number between 1 and 10. Then the other person will say a number that is at least 1 higher than that number, and at most 10 higher. We will keep going back and forth in this way until one of us says the number 50. That person wins. I'll start."

"Not so fast!" says Gaurav. "I want to win, so I will start."

Gaurav and Jagdish each have a collection of cricket balls. Gaurav said that if Jagdish would give him 4 of his balls they would have an equal number; but, if Gaurav would give Jagdish 4 of his balls, Jagdish would have 3 times as many balls as Gaurav.
How many balls does Jagdish have?

Start with any number less than 20. If the number is even, halve it. If the number is odd, add one. Continue using the same rules writing each number one after the other. e.g. 17, 18, 9, 10, 5, 6, 3, 4, 2, 1.

Do they always end in 1? What is the longest list of numbers?
